Termite Damage in Maize - Aren't you thankful we don't have to deal with that?

Termite damage in maize is a huge problem for subsistance farmers who do not use any sort of mechanical tillage. Using mechanical tillage breaks up termite mounds in fields and prevents this from being a problem.

A new Hokies fan from South Africa!

We met this young man near Winterton, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.  David had a brand new VT hat just for him.  A future Hokie?  Only time will tell, but what a great start!
